Presentation of the MVV lamp in Barcelona
Last 6 November at “La Capell”, the bookstore of the Cooperativa d’Arquitectes Jordi Capell in Barcelona, Marset presented its new MVV lamp, a posthumous design by Manuel Valls Vergés, architect and founding member of the Coderch i Valls studio.
At this gathering, Javier Marset and Joan Gaspar will talk to the grandson of Manuel Valls Vergés –Pablo Twose– who is also an architect and who rescued this design 45 years later. Moderating the event was communicator and design enthusiast Òscar Dalmau.
The MVV lamp is a reflection of two stories. One involves the architectural period during which Manuel Valls Vergés lived. His design, despite its timeless nature, reflects the constructive logic of that period and recalls a vast number of memories and references. The other is a personal story and speaks of a grandson – Pablo Twose – who found a lamp designed by his grandfather when the family was emptying out the flat where Manuel once lived. Stuffed in a box, this lamp deserved a second chance. Marset takes us back in time by rescuing this unknown design.
“La Capell” used this event to launch a new series of conversations between subject and publisher to reflect on how they design and create their products.
